Man United lining up exciting double swoop as part of '£27m summer deal'

Manchester United are reportedly planning to make Go Ahead Eagles manager Rene Hake a new member of their backroom staff for next season.

Hake has been at the helm of the Dutch top-flight club since 2022 and has guided the club to 11th and 9th in the Eredivisie during his two seasons in charge. The 52-year-old has also held coaching roles at FC Twente, Cambuur, Utrecht and FC Emmen in his home country and would be bringing a wealth of experience with him to Old Trafford, having started his managerial career in 2003.

Hake has been identified as someone the Red Devils are keen to acquire, as suggested by Fabrizio Romano, which could see him in the dugout with Ruud van Nistelrooy. The ex-United striker is considering taking up a role at the club after being sounded out to become part of Ten Hag's backroom team for the start of pre-season.

Ten Hag has been assisted by Mitchell van der Gaag and coach Steve McClaren since he took over at United in May 2022. Benni McCarthy also joined the coaching staff but is nearing the end of his contract, while Eric Ramsay left United earlier this year to take charge of MLS side Minnesota United.

While a recent report from the Mirror claimed that the Dutchman has secured a two-year contract extension worth almost £27m. This comes after the ex-Ajax boss was seemingly on the verge of being sacked ahead of last month's FA Cup final.

United and Ten Hag's representatives are understood to be finalising the terms of the new deal, which will include clauses relating to both his and the team's performance.
