Breaking Bad icon Bryan Cranston's crime drama Your Honor has been renewed for a second season.

Airing on Showtime in the US last winter, this one plonked him in the shoes of New Orleans judge Michael Desiato, whose son accidentally kills the kid of local mafia boss Jimmy Baxter (played by Boardwalk Empire's Michael Stuhlbarg).

"We were blown away by Your Honor... by the power of Peter [Moffat]'s storytelling, by the depth of Bryan's performance, and by the overwhelming reaction from our subscribers who watched in record numbers," shared Showtime's co-president of entertainment Gary Levine (via Variety).

"Imagine our delight when we learned that Peter believed he had more story to tell and Bryan felt he had more depths to plumb. So, along with its millions of fans, I am gleefully shouting 'Encore!'"

Digital Spy awarded the debut season three stars in our review, writing: "The first episode is a strong series opener, setting the stakes high from the off. Your Honor instils feelings of discomfort with ease, which is a testament to its writing. But it does not shy away from blood and graphic content either, and one particular scene is so unnecessarily shocking that it momentarily pulls you out of the story.

"Holding up a mirror to the real world, white privilege is rife in Your Honor. As a result, it also touches on systemic racism and socioeconomic injustice, although every now and then the show veers a little too far into racial stereotyping to feel worthy."

Your Honor airs on Showtime in the US, and Sky Atlantic and NOW TV in the UK.
