Bridgerton season 3 part 2 hits Netflix today (June 13) – but it'll be the last dose of the show for a while.

Viewers keen to learn how Penelope Featherington (Nicola Coughlan) and Colin Bridgerton's (Luke Newton) romance plays out will be waiting two years for Bridgerton season 4.

"We are working to try and put the seasons out more quickly, but they do take eight months to film, then they have to be edited, then they have to be dubbed into every language," showrunner Jess Brownell told The Hollywood Reporter at the UK premiere of part 2.

"And the writing takes a very long time as well, so we’re kind of on a two-year pace. We’re trying to speed up but somewhere in that range."

There's still plenty to look forward to, with Jess describing season 4 as "some of her best work". When asked which Bridgerton sibling would lead the upcoming episodes, she revealed: "I have almost slipped up a couple of times, so keep asking and maybe I’ll slip up.

"I’m really excited about what we’re writing. We’re towards the end with the writers' room season, with the scripts. And I feel like it’s some of my best work and my writers' room’s best work. We’ve just really gelled our collaboration, and we’re firing on all cylinders, so I can’t wait for fans to see what we have."

There's still plenty of steamy scenes and romance to enjoy in part 2, which has an ending that made creator Shonda Rhimes cry.

Martins Imhangbe, who plays Will Mondrich in the show, exclusively told Digital Spy that fans will be "satisfied" with how season 3 closes.

"I think they will be very, very, satisfied," he said. "But also, I think they're gonna want more. It's great drama. It's lovely."

Bridgerton seasons 1-2 and the first part of season 3 are streaming on Netflix, along with Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story. Season 3 part 2 premieres on June 13.
