“Bridgerton”'s Luke Newton Reads Sabrina Carpenter's 'Espresso' Lyrics as Colin: 'That's That Me, Espresso'

"Everyone thinks that you can make anything sound romantic ... and sexy," Jimmy Fallon told Newton during his June 19 appearance on 'The Tonight Show'

Bridgerton's Luke Newton is jumping on the Sabrina Carpenter "Espresso" hype!

During an appearance on the June 19 episode of The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, Newton, 31 — who plays Colin Bridgerton in the Netflix drama — recited some lines from Carpenter's hit song as his character, proving that he can make anything sound "romantic."

"Say you can't sleep / Baby, I know / That's that me / Espresso," Newton said while looking into the camera as dramatic Bridgerton-inspired music played in the background.

Before introducing the segment, which saw Newton recite multiple pop culture lines as Colin, host Jimmy Fallon, 49, said, "Everyone thinks that you can make anything sound romantic... and sexy."

"I thought if we gave you some random lines from modern pop culture, maybe you'd be able to show us how Colin Bridgerton would say them if he was talking to Penelope," he added, while referencing Newton's onscreen love interest Penelope Featherington, who is played by Nicola Coughlan.

The clip comes after Carpenter, 25, opened up about how her song "Espresso" had become such a hit while speaking to Rolling Stone in an interview published on Monday, June 17.

“My mom has been like, ‘Do you feel crazy right now?’ ” she told the outlet. “I just love that people get my sense of humor."

The track was inspired by a crêperie Carpenter had visited in France. "I decided to put that burden on other people,” the musician said of the catchy song.

She also spoke about how collaborating with songwriters Steph Jones and Amy Allen, and producer Julian Bunetta, inspired the lyrics.

"That’s the only way those borderline idiotic-slash-funniest lyrics can happen,” Carpenter told the outlet of working with people she's comfortable with. “I’ve really honed in on the people that I love making music with.”

"Espresso" became Carpenter's first top five track on Billboard's Hot 100 and her first No. 1 in the U.K., Ireland, and Australia.

Following the song's success, the hitmaker announced she was collaborating with Van Leeuwen for — fittingly — an espresso-flavored ice cream.

"Available starting JUNE 28th!!!!!" Carpenter wrote over a photo showing her holding a blue carton of ice cream featuring the image from the single's cover art earlier this month.

The singer's upcoming sixth studio album Short n’ Sweet will be released on Aug. 23.
