Bridgerton star Martins Imhangbe has praised the "modern" feel of the show's intimate scenes.

With season three set to conclude next week (June 13), Imhangbe spoke exclusively with Digital Spy about what makes Bridgerton's passionate moments so appealing.

"A big part of Bridgerton – in relation to sex – has always been from the lens of the woman," noted the actor, who plays Will Mondrich. "Which I feel is very interesting because oftentimes it's the man that leads and does all the stuff, and I love the way they use consent within it as well."

Despite its historical backdrop, Imhangbe described the show's frequent steamy scenes as "very delicate", "considered" and "modern".

"It feels like it could be today. You know, I mean, it doesn't feel like a period piece, if that makes sense. It feels like it could be shot in a film that's come out today."

He also discussed how Bridgerton empowers its characters by challenging the one-sidedness associated with sex scenes. "There's no stigma and shame between the people who are having sex. It's just very equal footing.

"And I think that's very empowering for both parties, because it doesn't feel like one person is kind of just getting their own thrill, like it feels like there's a care."

He continued: "That they're twin flames, that there's a sense of them doing it together as opposed to like, 'oh, I'm getting my fix or whatever.' So I love that about the show, that it's not just one side. It's very, very mutual."

Speaking about the season finale, which will stream on Netflix, the star teased: "I think they will be very, very, satisfied."

Bridgerton seasons 1-2 and the first part of season 3 are streaming on Netflix, along with Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story. Season 3 part 2 premieres on June 13.
