Bridgerton's Nicola Coughlan goes fully nude on-screen after 'body shaming'

Nicola Coughlan bared it all in one of the most daring scenes Bridgerton has aired to date.

The first part of the latest instalment of the hit Netflix show concluded with a sizzling moment between Colin Bridgerton (portrayed by Luke Newton) and Penelope Featherington (played by Nicola), leaving fans on tenterhooks for weeks until the release of part two on June 13.

The fifth episode showcased an extensive, almost six-minute sex sequence featuring the blossoming couple, beginning with Colin delicately unlacing Penelope's corset and gazing upon her nude form. The temperature rose as Colin instructed her to "lie down," transitioning their intimate encounter onto a chaise lounge.

While viewers caught a glimpse of Luke's posterior, Nicola appeared entirely nude, a decision she embraced as the "biggest f**k you" to those who've body-shamed her. In the midst of their passionate exchange, a novice Penelope implores Colin to guide her, insisting, "No, tell me," despite his assurance, "I will do everything."

He eventually directs her: "Touch me...anywhere.", reports the Mirror. Colin cautions that it "may hurt" before they engage in intercourse. Post-climax, Penelope eagerly inquires about the possibility of another round.

The entire scene unfolds over an impressive five minutes and 50 seconds. Both Nicola and Luke have openly discussed their steamy on-screen moments in interviews, even mentioning that they broke furniture during one particularly vigorous scene.

In one extraordinary revelation, Nicola described a wild moment on set where she and her co-star were so engrossed in the action they failed to hear the director's command to stop. Nicola confessed: "We did break a piece of furniture while doing one scene.

"It's a little bit like a stunt in which they're like, 'Okay, we're gonna do this, this, and this'. But then they gave us freedom and we had a lot of say in how we did those scenes and what we wanted to do. That makes you feel quite empowered."

The Derry Girls star relished the experience though, saying: "So we felt super. They were actually really enjoyable. I didn't think they would be. It was fun."

Further than this, it turned out that it had been "her choice" to appear entirely without clothing in one sequence as she desired to silence all body-shaming online trolls who were "having conversations surrounding her body".

In an interview with Radio Times, Nicola further admitted: "There is one scene where I am very naked on camera and that was my idea, my choice. It just felt like the biggest 'f**k you' to all the conversations surrounding my body, it was amazingly empowering. Having now watched those scenes, I'm so proud of them."
