Bristol's best rooftop bars to visit this summer

The long-awaited sunshine is here, which means summer drinks with friends and family are in order. Bristol is home to an array of rooftop bars and restaurants that take full advantage of our stunning skyline, so read on to get a feel for what's on offer in our city.

Gambas

Sister of the popular Cotham Hill tapas restaurant Bravas, Gambas has been open since 2018 and was named in the Good Food Guide just a year after opening. Gambas translates to 'prawns' in Spanish; the speciality of the cargo-container turned trendy eatery.

They boast an impressive terrace at Wapping Wharf where guests are promised 'the best sunsets in Bristol'. Ingredients are sourced from home and away, with high-quality produce coming from both Spain and the local area.

Bambalan

Well-known for its weekend bottomless brunches, Bambalan’s central location gives way to stunning rooftop views of the heart of the city. There's a 2-4-1 offer on select cocktails from 4pm-7pm on weekdays.

The stars of the menu are the range of cocktails on offer, from your classic Aperol Spritz to an intriguing ‘Dangerzone’, made with gin, Campari and blood orange. After their success last year, Bambalan has brought back the ‘Summer Sessions’ day parties, with the next event on Sunday, July 14.

Zerodegrees

Small chain Zerodegrees opened its doors in Bristol in 2004 and remains popular for those who like the sound of a craft beer and pizza. A new speciality beer is released each month, so there is always something new to try.

360 Cafe

The spectacular sight of the Clifton Suspension Bridge will never tire for Bristolians and is a great spot for tourists. Clifton Observatory's '360 cafe' really is just that, completely cladded with huge glass windows for guests to take in the view.

Available for walk-ins or private hire, the cafe has a roof terrace for warmer weather. Although known well for its extravagant hot chocolates for morning walkers, the rooftop bar and terrace have been recently renovated for guests to enjoy scenic evening drinks.

Riverstation

A converted dockside police station, this rooftop bar has a view of the iconic colourful houses on Redcliffe Parade. Riverstation has won an AA rosette for its cuisine, so this alfresco dining experience would be perfect for a special occasion.

Dishes and drinks on offer are locally sourced. Riverstation have named their roof terrace the 'Pontoon Bar', and offer an all-day dining menu.
