Britain's Got Talent: Alesha Dixon doesn't recognise dancer who previously won show she hosted

Britain’s Got Talent viewers were left in awe of teen dance duo Grace and Ali last night, with the loved-up couple impressing the judges with their beautiful routine to Sara Bareilles’ track Gravity.

The 16-year-old dancers sailed through to the next stage of the competition, with Alesha Dixon leading the praise for their routine.

However, Alesha seemingly didn’t recognise Ali Rasul even though they have crossed paths once before.

In fact, Alesha crowned Ali and his dance troupe, Lil Diamondz, the winners of CBBC show ‘Alesha’s Street Dance Stars’, which she was the host of, back in 2011.

With Ali aged just 10 years old at the time, Lil Diamondz went on to represent the UK at the World Hip Hop Championships in Las Vegas before opening a hip hop musical in London’s West End.

Ali’s career continued to take off, nabbing himself the lead role in Billy Elliot: The Musical in the West End before meeting Grace at the Performing Arts Musical Theatre at the Riverside College.

Praising Ali and Grace after their audition, Alesha gushed: “You are two of the most talented dancers we’ve seen by a clear mile. You are absolutely stunning together to watch.

“Skill level was insane. You were so in-sync, told a brilliant story. I was in awe of your talent.”

Alesha praised Ali and Grace’s skill.

Alesha has not yet commented on meeting Ali before and a Britain’s Got Talent spokesperson denied that he would have had an unfair advantage from previously winning a show that Alesha was involved with.

They said in a statement: “Anyone can apply for Britain’s Got Talent whether they are professional or amateur, irrespective of their past experience and all contestants are auditioned on merit.”

We’re sure that we will be seeing Ali and Grace again during the live semi-finals.
