British 4-Year-Old Creates Piano Piece in Honor of Australia Bushfire Victims

A young boy from the small Kent town of Paddock Wood has provided an unlikely boost for some Australian residents dealing with the effects of the bushfires which have ravaged the nation in recent months.

A video shared to the One Day Closer to Rain Facebook group on January 3 shows Helen Bisdee’s four-year-old son playing “a piece of music for those people and animals in Australia suffering with the bushfires.”

Bisdee explained that earlier that day, “my son caught me shedding more tears over the devastating fires and wanted to know what was going on. I told him. We are in the UK but have friends in Oz.” The footage shows her son, who she would prefer not to be named, saying that he wanted to play something for those in Australia.

After saying “cheese” to the camera he begins, as his mother (while being simultaneously pushed by her dog) films the sweet instrumental tribute.

Addressing the people on the Facebook group, Bisdee wrote, “I’ve been following this page for quite some time and find this latest kicking of a beautiful and stoic country is almost too much to bear.” While Bisdee notes that he son is “not musical,” she was touched by the gesture, as it seems were many of those who watched.

A sample of the comments on the page includes one person noting that they were “now shedding tears of gratitude,” while another wrote, “thanks champ we are assured that our world is a good place and are inspired by your music.” Additional comments included “thanks little man with a big heart,” and another that called the tune a “very gentle, meaningful gesture.” Credit: Helen Bisdee via Storyful
