British mum arrested in Majorca after leaving seven-year-old son alone to go partying

A British woman has been arrested after leaving her seven-year-old son in her hotel room while she went out for a night of partying.

Staff from the three-star Hotel Canarios Park called police after finding the little boy in tears, saying his mother had abandoned him.

The 25-year-old was eventually picked up by police when she returned to the hotel at breakfast time on Monday.

The family-friendly hotel is in the Calas de Mallorca resort, on the east coast of the Spanish holiday island.

It’s believed that the woman - known as Eleanor - appeared in court on Wednesday, where she was given a suspended prison sentence.

The little boy was left alone in a hotel room.

She is now waiting to see if she will be allowed to fly home with her son, who is currently in the care of officials.

A police spokesman said: “A 25-year-old female British tourist was held on suspicion of abandoning her child early on Monday after leaving her seven-year-old boy alone in their hotel room.

"Several guests at the hotel in Calas de Mallorca alerted receptionists a boy was crying and was alone in the hotel.

"Police arrived to find the youngster was in a very nervous state and was indeed alone.

"The boy told police he was on holiday with his mum in Mallorca and that he had woken up alone in their hotel room.

"He also said it wasn’t the first time he had been left alone.”
