Britney Spears interested in Great British Bake Off role

Britney Spears has admitted that she would be interested in a role on the Great British Bake Off when it moves over to Channel 4 next year because she loves cooking calorific treats.

The Toxic hitmaker stopped by BBC Radio 1 on Wednesday to have a natter with Scott Mills and Chris Stark, but the conversation soon turned to the hot topic of the moment: Bake Off’s channel/presenter drama.

After being given the run-down on Breadxit, the pop princess revealed that she would love to land a job on the programme following Mary Berry’s recent announcement whereby she stepped down as a GBBO judge.

When asked whether she would like to have a role on the show, she admitted: “That’s [the idea of the programme is] beautiful. That’s awesome. I love cooking.”

Britney might face some pop superstar competition though, as it was recently revealed that Taylor Swift’s name had been thrown into the GBBO judging mix amid Channel 4 scrambling to find a high-profile replacement.

The broadcaster – who recently announced its lightning acquisition of the Great British Bake Off – is also hoping to bag a pair of presenters to replace Sue Perkins and Mel Giedroyc after they resigned from the show.

Despite the shake up, Paul Hollywood – who has been a judge on the BAFTA award-winning baking competition since its inception in 2010 – has signed a three-series deal to continue in his role.

But it remains to be seen whether Channel 4 will be able to secure all of the ingredients to create a palatable GBBO series, or whether they will fail to rise to the challenge and present a half-baked attempt. Watch this space!
