Last October, Bruce suffered an aneurysm following a nasty fall at his home – the fall caused swelling of the main blood vessel leading from his heart leading him to need the serious procedure.

Back in November, his manager said: “The procedure was a complete success and while Sir Bruce needs to rest and recuperate, it is anticipated, given the minimally invasive nature of this operation, he will make a speedy recovery.”

However, Bruce is still too frail to leave the house and is expected to need up to three more weeks to be back to his old self.

His manager has said: “If he asked my advice I’d tell him not to go to the funeral.”

The 88-year-old has therefore been forced to miss the funeral of his friend who he says he will miss ‘like crazy’.

Following the news that Ronnie has died aged 85, the Strictly star called the day one of the ‘saddest of his life’.

"Firstly, I have to say this is one of the saddest days of my life. Things have been going through my mind all day.

"When you know somebody so well, it’s very difficult not to keep thinking about him.

Ronnie Corbett’s funeral is to be held at his local church St John the Evangelist in Surrey on Monday, which will be followed by a service at Croydon Crematorium.
