An expected crowd of around 45,000 are expected to be at the Stadium of Light on Wednesday night when music legend Bruce Springsteen arrives in Sunderland for the first time in 12 years.

It was back in 2012 that The Boss was last in the North East on his Wrecking Ball tour and now, having already delighted audiences in the likes of Cardiff, Cork and Dublin, Bruce will be on Wearside with The E Street Band on May 22. Sadly for the tens of thousands of ticket holders set to head to the SoL for the gig, a weather warning was issued by the Met Office on Tuesday for heavy rain for most of the day, although it is expected to clear up slightly during the evening.

With no support act for Sunderland or any of his tour dates, stage times for Bruce suggest that the rock icon will be on stage at around 7pm and stay there for over three hours, with the gig set to end around 10.15pm.

There are a number of strict security rules in place for anyone with a ticket to the concert, ranging from taking food and drink in to what size umbrella is permitted should the predicted downpours transpire.
