Bryan Fuller has revealed his initial plans for American Gods season two in a now-deleted tweet.

The axed showrunner departed the Starz/Amazon Prime series after season one aired alongside his colleague Michael Green.

However, in a since deleted social media post written on Monday (December 16), Fuller has claimed that he was "fired" from the series (it was previously thought he and Green had quit), as well as details of a forthcoming plot which would have seen Media – played previously by Gillian Anderson – morph into Mr Rogers and Princess Leia.

Darn.

Fuller wrote (as reported by io9): "Me and [Michael Green] never abandoned [American Gods]. We were dedicated to cast, crafted the season, wrote 5 episodes, even had Media as Mr Rogers & Princess Leia.

"We were in the process of reducing scope due to a dramatic budget reduction when we were fired."

Viewers had previously seen Media morph into the likes of David Bowie and fans were excited to see more of her, until she also quit in January this year.

She has since been replaced by Shameless US actress Kahyun Kim, who will play a rebooted model of the character.

American Gods is scheduled to return for its second season in March next year.

But, with replacement showrunner Jesse Alexander already out the door and no longer working on the series, season three may not be looking as likely.

American Gods will return to Amazon Prime in the UK on March 11, 2019.
