Building work continues on 43-home estate in shadow of iconic Three Sisters

Building work is continuing on a new 43-home estate - in the shadows of the Three Sisters bottle kilns. Social housing landlord Your Housing Group (YHG) is behind the £9.4 million development, off Bournes Bank, in Burslem, after snapping up the two-acre site.

It comes as work has already been carried out to repair and restore the three iconic bottle kilns. The kilns will be fenced off from the main housing development but the intention is to eventually bring part of the area which houses them forward for community use in the future.

The new two and three-bedroom homes – which are expected to be completed by next summer – will be available for affordable rent, shared ownership and rent to buy.

YHG development director Lorraine Donnelly said: “This is another key development to support Your Housing Group’s ongoing commitment to deliver new affordable homes. Through our new housing developments, we aim to provide a variety of quality, safe and affordable homes that will build thriving communities.”

The land has already benefited from a share of £9.5 million funding from Homes England. The grant - awarded to Stoke-on-Trent City Council - is intended to unlock the building of 1,100 homes on derelict brownfield sites across the city.
