This Burger King menu item is 'miles better' than the McDonald's version

Burger King launched the return of an iconic item today and I found it to be way better than the McDonald's alternative.

The fast food giant announced the return of the halloumi fries last week, as according to the restaurant, the fries have "a fresh ‘seal of approval’ from Greek Cypriot YiaYia’s following a pre-launch taste test".

I don't tend to visit Burger King, being more of a McDonald's fan usually, but I decided to head down after seeing some excitement online and give them a try.

When you go to order, you can select either five or seven of the cheesy fries, or add them into a meal. I went for the latter, and five halloumi fries with chips and a drink came to £6.79. A pretty good deal in my opinion, as I would later discover that the fries are quite filling, and you probably won't need much more in a meal to leave satisfied.

The halloumi fries are a light brown colour and deliciously chewy. While I found them a little salty, that comes as par for the course when dealing with halloumi, and I'd recommend eating them with a drink on standby.

While I do love a good McDonald's, I think the Burger King version of the halloumi fries are miles better, simply because they tasted more like something I could make at home, rather than the feeling I sometimes get with McDonald's halloumi fries where they taste slightly too rubbery and not much like cheese at all.

That said, I don't think they'll be my go-to next time I do go to Burger King, but I know they'll go down a treat with all the cheese-lovers in Liverpool.
