A lovely independent coffee shop and bar in a prime spot opposite Swansea railway station has appeared to close down unexpectedly - and customers say they're "gutted". Coffi Glas, located at the Seren student accommodation building on Alexandra Road in the city centre but open to the public, was a coffee shop by day and bar by night and served breakfasts, lunches and hot, soft and alcoholic drinks, with regular live entertainment and events throughout the week.

The eatery opened in October 2022 and was particularly popular with students and home-workers, along with people looking for an affordable place to have lunch before or after getting a train from the nearby station. For many customers, the business' apparent closure has come out of the blue.

In a post on a community group on Facebook, which the customer has given WalesOnline permission to share, one Coffi Glas fan said: "Went to Coffi Glas on Saturday only to find it closed down and apparently empty. When did this happen, and is it permanent? Haven't seen anything anywhere saying it was shutting but if so it's a real shame, the breakfasts were fantastic and they were really dog friendly." The customer further told WalesOnline: "It's a real shame, staff there were always very friendly and their breakfasts were excellent. I'm sorry it's gone."

"I went there Friday to try to have lunch and was gutted to see it closed," another customer said. "Stunning food here. Sad to see it closed," added another.

South Wales Oddfellows, a local friendship group, also reported the cafe's closure on social media. In a post a few weeks ago, the group wrote: "On Wednesday we held our regular Swansea coffee morning at Coffi Glas Lounge and Bar. Sadly Coffi Glas closes its doors on Saturday, we have thoroughly enjoyed our time with Mandy, Clare, Amanda and the team who have become part of our Oddfellows family and have been with us on our journey since relaunch in 2023. We wish them all well and are grateful for your warm welcome. The hunt is on to find a new venue, Ella our mascot will have final woof/vote....Diolch yn Fawr team Coffi Glas. Cariad Mawr xx"

WalesOnline has made multiple attempts to contact Coffi Glas but to no avail. At the time of writing, the business' Facebook page has appeared to be taken down and the business has been listed as "temporarily closed" on GoogleReviews. We will update this article with comments from the business owners, if we hear back from them.
