Dairy Milk is widely considered to be one of the most popular chocolate bars in the world.

Around 350 million of them are sold globally each year, so it's safe to say we love them a lot! With this being said, Cadbury has a tough job on its hands inventing new flavours.

While some are open to trying variations on the classic recipe, others are much more sceptical about tweaks being made. And that was definitely the case when Dairy Milk Raspberry Slices launched in the UK recently.

The dark chocolate bars have a punchy raspberry flavour inside them, which sounds delicious to some but is a step too far for others. Popular Instagram page New Foods UK said: "The raspberry taste is strong, but we love raspberry, so we didn't mind it tasting so strong. The chocolate works so well with the raspberry flavour!"

Some gushed that the flavour combination sounds "amazing". Another commented: "This is very nice, I'll be getting more." And a third added: "I love them."

Others prefer to keep things traditional though. One asked: "Why do they keep tampering with Dairy Milk with all these bloody variations!!" And another said they "weren't as nice" as they expected.

The classic Dairy Milk bar that was introduced in 1905 and became a best-seller in Britain by the 1920s. It was developed by George Cadbury Jr. during his attempts to rival Swiss chocolate.

With its high milk content, Dairy Milk was positioned as a healthier choice in contrast to other chocolate products available at the time.

Flavours that are popular in the UK include Fruit & Nut, Whole Nut and Caramel. But those looking to branch out have plenty of options to dive into too.

There's everything from chocolate packed with Turkish Delight jelly filling to aerated chocolate and popping candy. Something for everyone – so no need to fret if the new raspberry flavour isn't for you!
