Call of Duty Warzone Mobile: All the rewards in the Day Zero launch event

Call of Duty Mobile’s battle royale mode is the best thing about it, so it’s no wonder it’s being expanded into a dedicated game.

Soon, you’ll be able to take on 120 players in a last-man-standing fight for supremacy in Call of Duty Warzone Mobile. As its name implies, the upcoming game aims to bring the heart-pounding gameplay of Warzone from PC and consoles to phones and tablets. Best of all, it’s completely free to download.

With the game’s release date around the corner, Activision has announced a limited time launch event called Operation: Day Zero that will see players earn rewards for completing challenges. A total of 18 freebies are up for grabs, including weapon blueprints, calling cards, emblems and more.

Here’s everything you need to know about the new game, including when you’ll be able to play it and all the details on its launch event.

It’s been a long time coming, but Activision has finally revealed the highly anticipated game’s release date.

Call of Duty Warzone Mobile will land on Thursday, March 21 in the UK and worldwide.

The announcement follows a lengthy preview period where a lucky few countries got to test it out first hand. A pared-down version of the game was offered in Australia, Chile and parts of Scandinavia from late 2022 onwards. After sitting out the limited release, Brits will finally be able to jump into the game next month.

Day Zero launch event rewards

Call of Duty’s launch event will kick off the day after the game’s release on Friday, March 22. Players will be tasked with completing in-game challenges in six different zones across the game’s two maps, with five on Verdansk and one across the entirety of Rebirth Island.

New zones will be unlocked as players accumulate event points by completing certain actions. These include opening a supply box, or an even more valuable Day Zero supply box, eliminating other players, using a killstreak, purchasing items from buy stations, and more.

The points that you amass will go toward individual rewards that are available to claim straight away and community rewards offered at the end of the event. We’ve listed the goodies below, which will be usable across Call of Duty: Warzone Mobile, Call of Duty: Warzone, and Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III.

Bear in mind that rewards can only be claimed in Warzone Mobile’s event store. They’ll be available until April 3 at 5pm.

Where can you play Call of Duty Warzone Mobile?

The game will be available on iPhone, iPad and Android devices via the iOS App Store and Google Play Store, respectively.

According to its app store listings, the game’s file size is a relatively lightweight 3.91 GB, which is miniscule compared to the mammoth size of CoD console and PC updates.

The game only works on iOS 16 and above and Android 10 and above, while the age rating is 17 and over – Fortnite this ain’t.

Does Call of Duty Warzone Mobile have a campaign?

Think of Call of Duty Warzone Mobile as a slimmed-down version of the main Warzone experience. Whereas battle royale on Call of Duty Mobile offered 100-player skirmishes, here you get 120 players on bigger maps – bringing it closer to the action on PC and consoles, albeit with a downgrade in graphics.

There are also a variety of multiplayer modes for those seeking close-quarters action, along with familiar features like the Gulag, contracts and buy stations. However, campaign mode was never a part of Warzone, so don’t expect it to turn up on mobile either.

How to pre-register for Call of Duty Warzone Mobile

If you’re itching to play the game, it’s worth pre-registering as you’ll get a bunch of free rewards upon launch.

These include the Ghost “Condemned” operator skin, the M4 “Archfiend” and X12 “Prince of Hell” weapon blueprints, the “Foe's Flame” vinyl, and the “Dark Familiar” Emblem.

To join the 50 million players who have already pre-registered for the game, just head to your mobile app store of choice and pre-order the game. Now, it will download on your phone on launch day, complete with those freebies.

Call of Duty Warzone Mobile maps

At launch, Call of Duty Warzone Mobile will have two large-scale maps in the form of Verdansk and Rebirth Island, along with a handful of multiplayer modes.

Fans will be familiar with the former as it served as the primary setting for the battle royale mode on the original Call of Duty Warzone before its destruction. Inspired by Eastern European cities, Verdansk is a sprawling map with diverse zones, including downtown urban areas, suburbs and wide-open fields, industrial complexes, and military installations. This will be the map of choice for those seeking a bigger shootout, with support for up to 120 simultaneous players.

Also returning from the original Warzone, the Alcatraz-style Rebirth Island is a more condensed, action-packed map that is linked to the team-based Resurgence Mode. Here, up to 48 players will duke it out, and hope that at least one of their squad mates stays alive long enough for others to respawn.

Of course, the survival tactics of battle royale don’t suit everyone, so Activision is also offering several multiplayer maps and modes with short-burst rounds. These include Shipment, Shoot House and Scapyard, where you’ll be able to play Team Deathmatch, Domination, Kill Confirmed and Search & Destroy, including Hardcore variants.

Does it have cross-progression?

One of the big themes on Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 (MW3) and Warzone 2 was continuity, not just in its storyline but also your gear. Rather than rebuilding your arsenal and item collection from scratch, you were able to carry over almost everything you’d unlocked in Modern Warfare 2.

Warzone Mobile is no different. Once you log in with your Acivision ID, most of the content you’ve stashed on MW3 and Warzone proper will transfer over, and be readily accessible. The same goes for player and weapon XP you’ve earned, which will apply on mobile, PC and consoles, and stack up across platforms. Barring a few exclusives, most of the shared bundles you previously purchased will be waiting for you on mobile. The new game will also feature shared battle pass progress and a shared friends list.

Does it support controllers?

One of the biggest gripes some players had with Call of Duty Mobile at launch was its lack of controller support. To Activision’s credit, it quickly made it possible to use popular wireless gamepads in a matter of months.

Avoiding the same mistake, this time round Call of Duty Warzone will work with a range of controllers from the get-go. Activision is even promising “a decent amount of customisation,” though it’s unclear what that entails exactly. Naturally, touchscreen controls will be available, too.
