Police in Suffolk are searching for an absconded prisoner who has links to Essex. Thomas Snell was on temporary release from Hollesley Bay Prison but did not return as he was required to on Tuesday afternoon (June 18).

Snell, 33, was serving an eight-year jail sentence at the prison for drugs offences. Police described him as white, around 5ft 9ins tall, of medium build, with black hair and blue eyes. Suffolk Police have also warned he has links to Essex but did not further specify where in the county.

It's not uncommon for prisoners to abscond from Hollesley Bay Prison which is an open prison. Men held at the prison are often at the end of longer prison sentences and are able to work in the community to help them transition back into life outside incarceration once their sentences end.
