“When Calls the Heart ”star Mamie Laverock on life support after 5-story balcony fall

The actress was hospitalized on May 11 for a "medical emergency," her family wrote on a GoFundMe page.

When Calls the Heart star Mamie Laverock has been placed on life support after falling five stories from a balcony walkway.

The 19-year-old actress, who starred as nursing student Rosaleen Sullivan on the Hallmark Channel series, was first taken to a Winnipeg hospital on May 11 by her mother Nicole Compton after suffering a “medical emergency,” according to a GoFundMe page set up by her family.

She was later transferred to a hospital in Vancouver, where her parents Nicole and Rob Compton said that “her recovery is unclear at this time” but that “she is alive and is showing signs of improvement.” Still, they noted that her healing process could take "upwards of a month or more."

Just over two weeks later, Laverock’s parents announced in an update posted onto her GoFundMe page that their daughter had been “escorted out of a secure unit of the hospital and taken up to a balcony walkway from which she fell five stories” on May 26.

“She sustained life threatening injuries, has undergone multiple extensive surgeries, and is currently on life support,” they wrote. “We are all devastated, in shock, at this intensely difficult time.”

Following the news, Laverock’s When Calls the Heart costars Johannah Newmarch, Erin Krakow, and Andrea Brooks all shared the link to her GoFundMe page — which has surpassed its initial goal of $10,000 CAD — on social media and encouraged their followers to donate.

“I love this family, my heart is broken,” Newmarch, who plays Laverock’s mom Molly on the show, posted on X (formerly Twitter). “A devastating time for all who care for Mamie. Please help if you can. They need all the support they can get to make it through this.”

Krakow, who stars as Elizabeth Thornton, also posted a screenshot of the GoFundMe on Instagram, writing, “I just donated. If you have the means to do so, I hope you will too. Link in bio.”

In an Instagram Story post, Brooks shared the link and added, “This is heartbreaking news for the entire WCTH family. We love you Mamie.”

In addition to starring on When Calls the Heart, Laverock’s other credits include the 2020 Lifetime film Spotlight on Christmas, Netflix’s A Series of Unfortunate Events series, Wedding of Dreams, and an episode of Psych.
