If you've finally put away your winter coat and dug out your shorts, you're probably planning to find a beer garden to soak up the sun soon. In Cambridgeshire, we've got plenty of pubs with great gardens where you can enjoy a pint or two.

The Plough in Fen Ditton has a large garden next to the River Cam, with plenty of picnic tables to sit with your friends. You can enjoy the beautiful scenery or watch the rowers, kayakers, and paddleboarders as they splash past on the water.

If the weather isn't being as kind as you would hope – this is the UK, after all – there is plenty of space inside to take cover. The pub says it is "family friendly" and accessible for wheelchair users.

In its past life, the building has been used as a paper mill and a coaching inn. Now, it is a pub and restaurant pouring pints and dishing up delicious meals.

From Monday to Thursday, the pub has a deal on cocktails – you can get two for £15. They also have an extensive wine list, a range of draught beers, and non-alcoholic options, all great for sipping in the sun.

The menu includes steak cuts, burgers, stonebaked pizzas, pies, and more. On Sundays, there is a roast menu boasting beef, chicken, and pork belly, served with roast potatoes, Yorkshire puddings, and vegetables.

In June and July pubgoers can watch the spectacle of the Bumps, with university students competing in the races in June and townies racing in July. The Bumps are a unique style of rowing race which sees boats chasing each other down the river to try and catch their competitors by bumping into them, rather than racing side by side to a finish line.

The pub can serve as a great stopping place after a walk to Fen Ditton across Ditton Meadows. It also has plenty of parking and spaces to lock up your bike if you are coming from further afield.
