Camel Takes 'Leisurely Jaunt' Down Highway After Escaping Live Nativity Scene in Kansas

A camel was on the loose in Bonner Springs, Kansas, for hours on Sunday, December 5, after escaping from a live nativity scene the day prior, WSPA reported.

Footage filmed by Jason Petrey shows the camel trotting down the K-7 highway in Bonner Springs on Sunday.

“This morning, officers took to the golf courses in pursuit of the camel (on golf carts no less),” the Bonner Springs Police Department said. “Later, it took a leisurely jaunt down K-7 highway and into some neighborhoods.”

The camel was safely apprehended by lasso and returned to its owners, “and will go back to doing camel things,” the department wrote. Credit: Jason Petrey via Storyful
