Caoimhim Kelleher Celtic transfer 'alternative' slapped with £10m price tag as Premier League keeper set for exit

A potential transfer option for Celtic looks like being out of their reach after being slapped with a £10million price tag.

Mark Travers is set to leave Bournemouth this summer despite playing four of the last five Cherries games last season. Boss Andoni Iraola is chasing a new No. 1 for the upcoming English Premier League season and the Irish Sun report that he will let Republic of Ireland international Travers leave if they receive a suitable offer.

Hoops boss Brendan Rodgers is thought to be an admirer of Travers, who is an international teammate of Liverpool keeper Caoimhim Kelleher. He could leave Anfield this summer in search of first team football and had been linked with Celtic. But the Reds are seeking at least £15m to let Kelleher leave and that will prove too expensive for the Premiership champions. And while Travers could still be a viable alternative on loan, a permanent deal seems out of the question given the numbers quoted.

The Sun claim: "Brendan Rodgers needs a new first-choice keeper following the retirement of ex-England star Joe Hart. Rodgers is fan of Travers’ international rival Caoimhim Kelleher who has made no secret of the fact that his future is likely to lie away from Liverpool where he has been unable to dislodge Alisson.

"But the Cork man is expected to command a fee in excess of £15m and Travers had been looked at as a more affordable and realistic option. However, unless Bournemouth are willing to lower their valuation, the eight-figure sum is likely to push Travers beyond their reach as well."
