Maybe Thanos should be thanking his lucky stars that Captain Marvel isn't in Avengers: Infinity War.

After her solo movie, Brie Larson's Captain Marvel will be teaming up with the Avengers in the untitled Infinity War sequel in 2019, and Christopher Markus – who co-wrote both upcoming Avengers movies – has teased that she's the most powerful MCU character to date.

"Super excited to have her – for one thing. You know, that movie does not exist yet so we're following up on something that is good intentions at the moment. But that's a power scale that right now doesn't exist in the MCU," Markus told Screen Rant.

Sorry, Thor.

As for what role Captain Marvel will be playing in Avengers 4, Markus outlined that she's closest to Captain America in terms of being a character who "knows they're right and doesn't really want to hear it when you tell them they're wrong".

"So, with all these flawed, f**ked up people and Quill who's a mess and Tony who's a massive ego all contorted, it's fun to get another person with a clear vision in there and going, 'Shut up'," he added.

One thing we do know about Captain Marvel's solo movie is that, given it's set in the 1990s, she'll be the first superhero Nick Fury ever comes across.

"We wanted to explore a period before Samuel . Jackson's Nick Fury had any idea about any of the other heroes and crazy stuff going on in the world," Marvel boss Kevin Feige said. "You know, we first met Nick when he told Tony, 'You're part of a big universe. You just don't know yet.'"

Captain Marvel hits cinemas on March 8, 2019 in the UK and the US, with Avengers 4 set for release in UK cinemas on April 26, 2019 and US cinemas on May 3, 2019.
