A car has been left dangling over a steep drop after crashing through barriers in a busy West Country seaside town. Pictures from the scene show a blue Hyundai i10 badly damaged and dangling precariously over a path in Looe, Cornwall.

The front end of the vehicle appears to have become entangled with the railings with debris falling onto the path below. The one-vehicle crash took place near the family amusements arcade along Polperro Road in the Cornish town.

Devon and Cornwall Police confirmed there were no injuries reported as a result of the collision, reports CornwallLive. A spokesperson said: "Police were called to reports of a single-vehicle road traffic collision involving a Hyundai car on Polperro Road, West Looe, at around 4.20pm on Tuesday, April 30. The vehicle was in collision with some metal railings. Police and fire service attended the scene. No injuries were reported."

Residents in the area were left shocked by pictures of the scene posted on social media and shared with CornwallLive. One person said: "How did that happen????" While another wrote: "Amazed that a crash barrier is not at this and similar locations in the area. Imagine if this had been a bus or lorry!"

Someone else commented: "Just had a walk (9pm) down there. Car gone. Working on the road closed until 6/7am. Then should be back to lights. Fence not yet repaired after car hit."

Part of Polperro Road has also been closed this week while work takes place to remove landslip debris which is obstructing the road. Emergency repairs had to be carried out after a landslip saw a large amount of soil fall onto Polperro Road in Looe on February 21. The overnight closure is currently in place between 7pm to 7am on Polperro Road.
