Car ploughs into historic pub as police and firefighters rush to scene

An historic pub was badly damaged after a car ploughed into it this morning. Police officers and firefighters were called to the one-time Harry Ramjams venue on Shelton New Road.

Pictures showed damage at the site in Stoke-on-Trent following an incident overnight. Engineers were seen working in the area following a crash at around midnight.

Section of Shelton New Road from its junction with Bedford Street to Cemetery Road had to be closed off as teams worked through the night to make the building safe. Demolition teams and officials from Stoke-on-Trent City Council and gas engineers were all at the site in the early hours of this morning, StokeonTrentLive reports.

Police were at the scene of the crash until around 6.30am today, Thursday, June 13. The road was reopened by officials at around 6.45am. Rubble could be seen on the floor in front of the building alongside caging which has gone up all around building. Staffordshire Police have not yet shared a statement on the incident.
