Cara Delevingne: I ate a dead rat for Bear Grylls

Cara Delevingne has revealed she at a dead rat while filming with Bear Grylls.

The British model and actress spent time in the wild with the TV survivalist and confessed she agreed to eat the rodent that had been dead for some time when she spotted it in a bush.

Delevingne, 27, told The Tonight Show With Jimmy Fallon: "I ate a rat! I told you I would do anything for Bear."

She went on: "But the worst part was, we were walking down a hill and I saw this tail sticking out and I said, 'Oh is that a rat?' And he was like, 'Perfect, that’s our dinner!'

"I was like, 'Nooooo!' Because it was really... urgh! They don’t set it up at all.

"And it had been dead for, well it didn’t smell that bad but it wasn’t fresh, obviously.

"He picked it up and went, 'Oh you can put it in your bag because you don’t have a lot of stuff in there! Thank you!'"

The Carnival Row star revealed she has been a huge fan of the 45-year-old ex-SAS soldier since she was a child, when he visited her school, the Francis Holland School for Girls in London.

"He came to my school when I was nine as he was one of the youngest people to have ever climbed Everest. I’m obsessed with him so when he asked me to do the show, I knew that whatever Bear asked me to do, I had to do it."

And Delevingne claimed eating the rat was not the worst part of her experience with Grylls, who tests celebrities' survival skills on his show Running Wild.

She admitted she was humiliated in front of her childhood hero when she lied about being able to ride a scooter and then struggled to start the motor.

She explained: “They usually ask like, ‘Are you scared of heights? Can you ride a motorcycle…?’ And every time I get asked this on a [acting] job… I always think, ‘I can learn how to’.

“They were like, ‘Can you ride a scooter?’ I was like, ‘Of course…’ but I didn’t know I was gonna have to, start myself, this old Italian scooter. That was the hardest part of the whole thing. It took me an hour to get the thing going.”
