Yahoo News Cardi B says she used to drug and rob men when she worked as a stripper
Cardi B allegedly drugged and robbed men who tried to pay her for sex when she worked as a stripper.
The rapper made the allegations during an Instagram live, where she defended herself against people who said she didn’t deserve her fortune, NME reports.
According to Cardi, she took the extreme measures to “survive”.
“N****s must’ve forgot, my n***a, the shit that I did to muthaf***in’ survive,” she said. “I had to go strip. I had to go ‘Oh yeah, you wanna f**k me? Yeah yeah yeah, let’s go back to this hotel’. And I drugged n****s up and I robbed them. That’s what I used to do. Nothing was mothaf***in’ handed to me, my n***a. Nothing.”
The Money rapper immediately faced backlash for her comments, with people on social media starting the hashtag #SurvivingCardiB - a reference to the Lifetime documentary Surviving R Kelly, in which the sexual assault allegations against R Kelly were described.
However, others pointed out the outrage over Cardi B’s comments was minimal in comparison to the backlash targeted at men who have said similar things, proving a possible double standard in the industry.
One person tweeted: “When Rick Ross said: ‘I put molly all in her drink, she ain’t even know it. I took her home and enjoyed that, she ain’t even know it” he lost endorsement deals and his career.

Another said: “Cardi B admittedly drugged men and robbed them for money. Where is the MeToo outrage?”
On Twitter, Cardi defended herself from the criticism, writing: “I never claim to be an angel I always been a street b**ch. Ya be glorifying this street rappers that talk and do that grimmey [sic] street sh*t but they can’t stand a street b**ch.”
The rapper followed up by announcing she would be taking a break from the social media platform.
“Have fun,” she wrote, before returning to Twitter on 25 March to tweet: "I'm that b**ch they love to hate, I'm that b**ch they hate to love. And I love it."
