Who is Carol Kirkwood’s new husband Steve Randall? Their love story revealed
Carol Kirkwood got married this Christmas
Congratulations are in order as BBC weather presenter Carol Kirkwood has got married this Christmas to her partner Steve Randall. So who is her new husband? And what is their love story?
The couple have been living happily together at Kirkwood's £2m home in Berkshire. It's believed they moved in together last year – when they also got engaged. Friends first, they fell in love with each other in 2021 when they embarked on a romance together. Here is their story...
Who is Carol’s new husband?
Initially, Kirkwood kept the identity of her love a secret after the pair agreed to keep their romance under wraps. Not able to keep the secret forever, Kirkwood finally shared her love's name with the world when she was ready. So who is Kirkwood's new husband and what do we know about him?

Steve Randall is a policeman and he is 13 years Kirkwood's junior. Like Kirkwood, he too has been married before.
In 2021, Kirkwood shared that Randall was "very kind" and "very funny" in a loving interview. She told Prima magazine: "I don't want to say too much about my boyfriend, but I will say that he is very kind and very funny – he's always making me laugh. And extremely handsome, as well."
Plus, she shared the sweet gesture that Randall does everyday. Kirkwood explained: "He always makes me a cup of tea before I go to work in the morning, which is very romantic – it's 2.45am and he often leaves me a little love note for when I come home from work. That, to me, is worth a million red roses. He is the best thing that's ever happened to me, without a shadow of a doubt."
In another interview, Kirkwood admitted she tells him not to wake up but he still does. August this year she told The Mirror: "Even though I say to him every time, ‘Don’t get up, you go back to sleep,’ he always insists on getting me my tea. He’s so kind, and that’s really important to me. I know kindness is a buzzword at the moment, but it’s really important in a relationship." Of their romance, she added: "We’re very happy and we’re loved up, and we’re delighted to be together."
How did Carol meet Steve?
They were friends first before they fell in love with one another and neither of them were expecting it. Kirkwood told Closer magazine: "We were friends before we became romantically involved so we knew each other quite well before we started dating. That was nice because it just kind of happened. Neither of us were looking for romance and there it was, it just evolves. It’s so lovely."
When did Carol Kirkwood get engaged?
Surrounded by the beautiful blooms at the Chelsea Flower Show in 2022, it was the perfect moment for Kirkwood to share the news. The BBC star revealed her delight that she was going to be getting married again.
Fellow BBC star Sally Nugent sweetly remarked up on her huge diamond sparkler. "I'm a bit concerned about how you're standing up with a giant rock on that left hand," she joked. To which Kirkwood responded with glee: "Thank you Sal! It is rather nice. I got engaged!"
Setting the scene, the weatherwoman lifted the lid on the moment her love had popped the question. She said on live TV: "We went out for a picnic, I had absolutely no idea. The weather was glorious, we were sitting chatting… He was fumbling in his pocket and then out came a ring." In a charming moment, she revealed: "I thought he was joking actually, I didn’t believe him to start with… It was quite romantic."
Madly in love, Kirkwood previously admitted she didn’t think she would be heading down the aisle again. She told Closer magazine: "Who’d have thought that at this ripe old age, I’d be getting married again? I certainly didn’t."
Kirkwood gets married
Kirkwood revealed the couple had a romantic and intimate wedding this Christmas. She wrote on X: "Thank you so much for all your lovely messages. We had the most perfect day. It was a tiny wedding but so romantic and intimate. A day we will never forget. We are bursting with happiness. It wasn’t a ‘secret’ wedding, just a private one."
