Carrick Rangers have gone Stateside as their preparations for the new season get underway. The club has been keen to strengthen its links across the Atlantic after American businessman Michael Smith became the majority shareholder last year.

A delegation from the club travelled out to the US this week to expand their network and and build relationships. First team manager Stuart King was joined by assistant boss Scott Irvine and Director Jody Hill on the trip.

On Tuesday they spent some time at the Bank of America Stadium, home of Charlotte FC. The MLS club is managed by former Aston Villa and Leicester City boss Dean Smith.

"The visit marks the beginning of a trip where a Club delegation has travelled to the United States to expand our network in North America while sharing best practices and developing relationships with sides in the MLS and USL as well as college soccer programs.

"Our thanks go to all at Charlotte FC who welcomed us to their stadium and provided a tour of their facilities. Additionally, our delegation was able to watch a Men’s First Team training session, with their squad including players such as Ashley Westwood and Scott Arfield, while also being afforded time to speak to Head Coach Dean Smith."
