Singer and model Cassie Ventura has shared a moving statement in response to a recently circulated video that shows her being brutally attacked in a hotel hallway by her ex-boyfriend, Sean 'Diddy' Combs.

In a touching Instagram post, she urged her 10 million followers to "believe victims the first time".

Combs also posted a statement with regards to the heartbreaking footage, admitting his wrongdoing, and saying: "I was disgusted when I did it. I'm disgusted now.”

He added, "I went and I sought out professional help. I got into going to therapy, going to rehab. I had to ask God for his mercy and grace. I'm so sorry."

In her statement, Ventura thanked those who'd shared love and support including her "family, friends, strangers and those I have yet to meet". She explained that the "outpouring of love" has helped her younger self to 'settle and feel safe now, but this is only the beginning".

The Me & U singer continued on to say, "Domestic Violence is THE issue. It broke me down to someone I never thought I would become. With a lot of hard work, I am better today, but I will always be recovering from my past."

Since leaving her on-off ten-year relationship with Combs, Ventura has gone on to marry personal trainer Alex Fine, with whom she now shares two daughters, Sunny, 3, and Frankie, 4.

In her statement, Ventura also wrote, "Thank you to everyone that has taken the time to take this matter seriously. My only ask is that EVERYONE open your heart to believing victims the first time. It takes a lot of heart to tell the truth out of a situation that you were powerless in.

"I offer my hand to those that are still living in fear. Reach out to your people, don't cut them off. No one should carry this weight alone. The healing journey is never ending, but this support means everything to me. Thank you."

The footage of Combs attacking Ventura in a hotel was released almost six months after Ventura launched a legal case against the record producer and rapper, accusing him of rape and sex trafficking. The lawsuit was settled a day later with no admission of guilt from Combs.
