Stephen Mulhern lost his rag with a soap legend on Saturday's Celebrity Catchphrase, as they struggled to grasp just how to play the game, before turning things around to stun the frustrated presenter.

Before he was all set to appear in the penultimate Saturday Night Takeaway of the series, In for a Penny star Stephen was back in the familiar surroundings of the Catchphrase studio, to front an edition of the popular ITV spin-off, featuring an array of famous faces. He was joined by Barney Walsh, a week after he was seen on the finale of BBC hit Gladiators; This Morning medical expert Dr Zoe Williams and Coronation Street icon Sally Dynevor.

And it was the actress who has been playing the part of Sally Webster for the best part of 40 years who faced the wrath of Stephen, when she struggled with the basics of how to play Catchphrase. Initially, Stephen seemed very enamoured with having Sally on his show, saying how much he loved seeing her on Dancing on Ice, as well as quizzing her about receiving an MBE from Princess Anne.

However, after Sally's guesses got more and more wide of the mark and she even failed to guess a clue featuring her Coronation Street alias, Stephen snapped at her: "Have you ever seen Catchphrase?" as her answering: "Nightmare" to one of the clues tipped him over the edge., before he added: "You're going to kick yourself, all three of you."

Stephen's public dressing down of Sally seemed to be spur her on as, after he cheered for her finally getting one right, she ended up getting one of the big money Catchphrases as well, but still ended up finishing third behind Barney and Zoe, taking home £1,800 for her chosen charity, as Stephen, in a very different tone to minutes earlier, told her: "You've been brilliant, so lovely."
