CCTV appeal after youths launch 'appalling' attack on lollipop man as boy, 13, arrested

Police have issued a CCTV appeal after a gang of youths on e-bikes launched an 'appalling' attack on a lollipop man in Lancashire.

The shocking incident happened on Black Bull Lane in the Fulwood area at round 3.34pm on Wednesday (June 12). Lancashire Police said a lollipop man - who is aged in his 70s - was attacked by youths who were 'riding anti-socially on e-bikes'.

The victim was taken to hospital with fractured ribs after attack. One boy, aged 13, was arrested on suspicion of section 18 assault.

The boy, from Preston, remained in custody for questioning yesterday (June 16), officers said in an appeal on Facebook. Police have now released CCTV images of a person on a bike they want to speak to about the attack.

"We know you can’t see their face but we know their associates and people in the community will know who it is", the force said. "We are asking them to do the right thing and contact the police as soon as possible.

"We know people will be appalled by news of this assault and want to reassure everyone that we have a dedicated team of officers assigned to this case."
