Daisy Ridley has delighted Great British Bake Off fans with a lightsaber rolling pin trick, but found herself on the dark side of baking as she struggled with every challenge.

Ridley, best known for playing Rey in the Star Wars films, experienced three disastrous bakes in the celebrity version of the competition which has returned for a fourth series.

Things started well for her as she confidently showed off her lightsaber skills to Paul Hollywood and Prue Leith using a rolling pin.

But things quickly went downhill as she took on singer Alexandra Burke and comedians Rob Beckett and Tom Allen - although Ridley's fans loved how much of a good sport she was despite her problems in the tent.

First bake of the series was a millionaire's shortbread, but Ridley's banoffee version fell apart when her caramel layer leaked all over the tin.

She said: "I'm that person. I'm the person that everybody laughs at."

When the technical challenge was announced as a vegan chocolate raspberry tart, vegan Ridley was delighted to hear that it might play to her strengths.

However, Ridley ended up producing tarts with the dreaded soggy bottom and came second to last in the challenge.

Finally, she attempted to pull off an ambitious showstopper of a "biggest bug bear" cake - where the celebrity bakers had to make the thing that irritated them most.

Ridley tried to fashion a toilet being flushed with the lid up out of cake and homemade jaffa cakes, which Hollywood and Leith said tasted good, but was both overmixed and still contained flour lumps.

She said: "Oh, I'm the dunce in the corner with the bad cake."

Meanwhile, Burke won Star Baker for the episode as well as the technical challenge, Beckett earned a Hollywood handshake for his millionaire's shortbread, and Allen produced an intricate car-shaped cake in the showstopper round.

Despite Ridley's baking disasters, fans loved the camaraderie between the celebrity bakers and comedian Allen kept viewers laughing with his jokes about having picked up skills from presenting Bake Off: The Professionals.

Celebrity Great British Bake Off is again being held in support of Channel 4 and Cancer Research UK fundraising campaign Stand Up To Cancer.

The series will also see Dame Kelly Holmes, Reece Shearsmith, Dizzee Rascal, Stacey Dooley and Nadine Coyle take part.
