Celebs Go Dating returned in spectacular fashion last night (October 14), not least because it provided one of the show's most awkward moments ever.

Yes, step aside Gemma Collins standing up her date on the Eurostar platform, former Sugababes star Mutya Buena getting pied off at the mixer is here to steal your crown.

During the first episode, Mutya picked Jordan to go on a date, and while it all seemed to be going swimmingly, a prolonged silence when he was asked if he accepted her invitation gave the game away immediately.

"Although I'm really honoured by the question, I think we probably connected more on a friendship level," he answered, to gasps from everyone.

While Mutya said "that's fine", we do feel for her being seriously friend-zoned in public like that.

Viewers at home certainly found the moment very awkward:

That wasn't the only cringe moment though, as Eyal Booker managed to earn himself a lot of enthusiasm from Alik's own first choice of date, who claimed that Eyal's more her type.

And then Eyal pied her off by picking another girl, Claudia, to go on a date instead. Awkward.

Meanwhile, viewers last night were left confused after Gogglebox star Amy Tapper didn't appear on the first episode. (Don't worry she'll still be on the show, it'll just be a little later on in the series.)

Celebs Go Dating airs on E4.
