Celine Dion Did Not Attend Her Brother’s Funeral

It has been reported that Celine Dion decided not to attend her brother Daniel’s funeral yesterday because she is too grief-stricken.

The star attended a memorial service for Daniel on Saturday, one day after her husband René Angélli’s funeral, but opted out of the final service at St-Simon-et-Jude parish in Charlemagne, Québec, where the family were raised.

It is thought that Celine felt that she could not continue with two more days of public mourning.

The 47-year-old has had an incredibly tragic start to the year, with her husband of 21 years dying of cancer just two days before her brother lost his own battle with the disease.

René was laid to rest at a public funeral at the Notre-Dame Basillica and Celine personally greeted mourners at an open casket wake for her husband.

Another public memorial will be held for René on February 3rd at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas, where Celine has a concert residency.

It was previously reported that the star is determined not to have too much time off work because she knows that is not what her brother and husband would have wanted.

It is thought that she will be returning to the stage on February 23rd.
