The new CEO of the Cornwall Chamber of Commerce has been announced today.

John Brown will be stepping into the role from the start of July, following a successful career with notable brands such as Virgin, lululemon, and GoPro.

Mr Brown brings over 15 years of business experience, committing himself to "support, fight for and deliver results to the full scope of the Cornish economy."

The Cornwall Chamber of Commerce is an independent, non-profit organisation whose mission is to represent Cornish businesses on all levels, from local to international.

Mr Brown takes over from outgoing CEO, Kim Conchie, who retires after 12 years in the role.

Laura Whyte, chair of the Cornwall Chamber of Commerce Board, said: "John has incredible dynamism.

"Through his brand communications and activism experience, he will continue to put the Chamber at the cutting edge of the business sector.

"Having stood in the shoes of business owners, John can appreciate the challenges they face and the support they need."

Mr Brown said: "I want the world to know that Cornwall is the blueprint for the future economy and to invest, learn from and collaborate with every element of our rich business tapestry.

“It’s my great privilege to support, fight for and deliver results to the full scope of the Cornish economy.

"From the exciting micro businesses through to the pioneering corporates."

Meanwhile, Mr Conchie will remain an active figure in Cornwall's business community, continuing as part of the chamber board and holding several business and educational appointments.

He said: "I have had an amazing 12 years at Cornwall Chamber of Commerce.

"I am delighted with John’s appointment and thrilled that the Chamber will be steered by someone of such high calibre and with such passion for growth.

"This is the start of an exciting new chapter for Cornwall’s business community."

Mr Brown is expected to meet with chamber members at events throughout July, including the chamber’s Connected Lunch on July 3 and the Cornwall Business Fair on July 17.
