Chalfont St Peter flats are set to be bulldozed to make way for new homes if a planning application is approved.

Developer Nationcrest wants to demolish the two-storey building comprising two flats and the large garage or workshop at ‘Cumnock’ on Nicol Road.

Proposals would see these buildings replaced with five new two and three-bedroom dwellings across one pair of semi-detached homes and one group of three terraced, two-storey properties.

The existing vehicular accesses will be altered to allow two dedicated parking spaces to be provided for each dwelling, according to the plans.

The new homes have been designed in a ‘Victorian’ cottage style with blue and grey roofing slates and brickwork.

This would be ‘sympathetic to the area’ and compatible with similar styled existing properties along Nicol Road, the applicant said.

Nationcrest’s plans read: “The removal of the austere existing brickwork boundary wall, together with setting back the houses from the Road, will create a more open aspect and also allow an opportunity to include new tree planting and soft landscaping areas.

“This should lead to a more open and sylvan aspect to the street scene in this part of the road.”

Removal of the existing garage workshop and concrete associated hardstanding will ‘provide an opportunity for soft landscaping’, according to the plans.
