Channel 4 bosses have announced an exciting new pair to grace the sofas, ahead of Celebrity Gogglebox returning to screens next month.

Spice Girls singer Mel B will reportedly be joining the show alongsider her daughter Phoenix Chi. It's the first time the 'scary spice' star will appear next to her 25-year-old daughter on television, although she's no stranger to the small screen.

Mel, 48, has previously appeared on numerous televised talent shows, including The X Factor. A Celebrity Gogglebox insider told the Mirror: “It’s so exciting to have Scary Spice and Phoenix on the sofa together, they’re going to be fantastic.”

The Channel 4 show is due to launch for its sixth series next month, June 14. Fans will welcome back familiar faces such as Martin and Roman Kemp, Fearne Cotton, Gok Wan, Rylan Clark, Clare Balding and Gyles Brandreth.

Leeds-born singer Mel has previously described her daughter Phoenix as being "very wise" for her age, so it will be intriguing to see how they get on as arm-chair critics.

Mel wrote: "I am getting better. The therapy is working. I am working on it. Someday soon I do believe things will improve. The Spice Girls will all be out there, all five of us together again - yes, I'm saying it, it will happen."

Discussing the Spice Girls in more details, Mel lifted the lid on the outrageous backstage demands she and her Spice Girls pals made on their last reunion tour in 2019. She says: "There are rows, yes. There are nightmare moments. There is always lots of stress."
