Following two movies and a short-lived rebooted TV adaptation since 2000, Charlie's Angels is again heading to the big screen.

Pitch Perfect and The Hunger Games star Elizabeth Banks is directing the new version of the classic US TV show, having co-written the reboot with The Girl in the Spider's Web's Jay Basu. "Charlie's Angels, for me, is one of the original brands to celebrate the empowered woman since its debut in the '70s," Banks enthused.

"This film honours the legacy of Charles Townsend and his agency while introducing a new era of modern and global Angels."

So what else can we expect from the new version of Charlie's Angels? We're glad you asked.

Charlie's Angels trailer: Watch it here!

The action-packed first trailer dropped on June 27, introducing us to the 2019 iteration of the crime-fighting trio.

Although there are some major changes made to the original, the trailer also hints at some nostalgic callbacks, including that iconic line...

Charlie's Angels release date: When can we expect it?

When the reboot was first confirmed in May 2017, it was set for release on June 7, 2019, but that since moved back slightly to September 27, 2019 in UK and US cinemas.

Filming had started on the movie on September 24, 2018, but even with filming underway, there was another release date change in the works as the reboot moved back to November 1, 2019, taking the slot after Wonder Woman 1984 moved to 2020.

Things have since moved slightly once again, with its official release date being set at November 15 in the US and November 29 in the UK.

Charlie's Angels cast: Who's in it?

After rumours linking her to the role, it was confirmed in July 2018 that Twilight's Kristen Stewart would be one of the three new Angels, alongside Power Rangers and Aladdin's Naomi Scott and newcomer Ella Balinska.

Entertainment Weekly gave us our fist look at the cast in action in April, sharing photos from the set that showed the ladies and their co-stars in action.

Banks will also be starring in the movie as Bosley and the new movie will have multiple versions of the Angels' trusty sidekick.

It's been reported that Star Trek legend Patrick Stewart is in advanced negotiations to play another version of Bosley.

And they won't be the only two Bosleys in town as Marvel star Djimon Hounsou has been cast as another version of Bosley.

Played by David Doyle in the TV show and Bill Murray in the previous movies, Bosley is like Q to the Angels' Bond in that he offers logistical support to help them complete their missions. Unlike in the TV series, the rebooted Bosley appears to be a title rather than a name and applies to multiple characters who assist the Angels.

To All the Boys I've Loved Before star Noah Centineo and The Hunger Games star Sam Claflin have also both joined the cast, but their roles are being kept under wraps for now, so we don't know if they'll be playing another Bosley.

We could also be seeing multiple teams of Angels in the reboot, something that hasn't been seen before. "It's not just three. Women across the entire globe are connected and helping each other," Stewart teased.

This was something hinted at in a teaser photo on Sony's Twitter page that listed seven locations for the Townsend Agency around the world.

The movie will also feature Mexican actor Luis Gerardo Méndez as a mysterious character called The Saint and Westworld's Jonathan Tucker in an undisclosed role.

Charlie's Angels plot: What will it be about?

The official plot synopsis doesn't really give too much away about the reboot:

"In Banks’ bold vision, Kristen Stewart, Naomi Scott, and Ella Balinska are working for the mysterious Charles Townsend, whose security and investigative agency has expanded internationally.

"With the world's smartest, bravest, and most highly trained women all over the globe, there are now teams of Angels guided by multiple Bosleys taking on the toughest jobs everywhere."

But while we don't know too much about the actual plot, Stewart has been busy talking about the tone of it.

"God, it's so funny. I know if I say this a certain way, I know that this will be written down. But it's not such a bad thing. It's kind of like a 'woke' version," she explained, adding: "There's a kitsch nature to the last ones that was super fun. But nowadays, if you see a woman in combat, everything should be completely and utterly within their ability."

After Lucy Liu – who appeared in the 2000 and 2003 movies – gave her backing to the new reboot, Stewart said that they weren't just "trying to do an impression of the last one".

"It is not maybe everyone's immediate response that [Charlie's Angels] would be, like, something we would have to see again, because the one I grew up with was so much fun," she noted. "The re-imagining is so grounded and well-intentioned and really shows the way women can work together now."

Charlie's Angels will be released in US cinemas on November 15 and UK cinemas on November 29.
