Charlie Brown Voice Actor Held For 'Stalking'

The actor who voiced Charlie Brown in many Peanuts shows has been arrested for stalking and making threats to kill.

US Customs and Border Protection spokeswoman Angelica de Cima said Peter Robbins had been arrested at the weekend at the San Ysidro Port of Entry between the US and Mexico.

She told the San Diego Union Tribune newspaper that a background check yielded a warrant against Robbins from the San Diego County Sheriff's Department.

The 56-year-old appeared in court on Wednesday on charges of stalking his ex-girlfriend and making a threat to cause death or great bodily injury to a plastic surgeon.

If convicted, Robbins faces up to nine years in state prison.

Robbins provided the voice for the cartoon character in many TV specials in the 1960s, including A Charlie Brown Christmas and It's The Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown.

The Peanuts comic strip, which was written and illustrated by Charles M Schulz, ran from 1950 to 2000, and at its peak was read by 355 million people in 75 countries.
