A number of The Chase fans made the same complaint just minutes into the latest episode on ITV.

Wednesday's instalment of the popular quiz show saw host Bradley Walsh welcome Alex, Michele, Nicky and Joe. While the contestants were strangers, they were working together in the hopes of bagging some serious cash.

Alex was up first against The Chaser - Mark Labbett, who is better known as The Beast. The ledger control specialist, from Dudley, answered four questions correctly in his cash-builder round.

And when it came to the offers, The Beast said he could either play for £1,000, £4,000, or £35,000. Alex said: "I always said I'd never take a low offer but it's might tempting as we don't know what form Mark is on today".

Bradley said: "I do, they're always on good form". Alex went for the low offer of £1,000, and fans watching at home were less than thrilled.

On X, formerly Twitter, Jane said: "One? ONE? [angry face emojis]", while Mark said: "Oh here we go". @GlassV47456 said: "First player going low destroys any notion that this is a team game". Ange said: "No not the first one going low!"

The Chase airs weekdays at 5pm on ITV and ITVX
