The Chase's Anne Hegerty calls homophobic viewer a 'sad f****r'
Fans of ITV quiz show The Chase got some added entertainment on Twitter when one of its quiz masters responded to a homophobic viewer.
General knowledge supremo Anne Hegerty, 59, may already be one of the cleverest people on telly but now she’s reminded us why she’s one of the most vicious tweeters, too.
When a disgruntled viewers of the show decided to tweet The Governess, they probably didn’t anticipate her utterly scathing reply.
‘#TheChase l really think it is mischievous and highly irresponsible of ITV to allow people of this sort to appear on a family show. I feel quite disgusted,’ the homophobic tweet read, in reference to the idea of having a gay person on the show.

‘Oh, don’t be such a sad f*****r, she replied. Naturally, a lot of users applauded her for such a biting response.
Her reply? The most brutal of takedowns…
But the internet troll wasn’t done there. poor Simon attempted to have a pop back at Anne, but saying ‘Beautifully argued’ but spelled ‘beautiful’ wrong – which Anne picked up on to burn him some more.
And fans of hers were quick to praise her no nonsense retorts to the internet troll.
You're swiftly becoming my hero, Anne…

Even in the thread saluting the star, Simon came back for more pain, after claiming it was a ll fake and branding her supporters as ‘gullible’…
…Only for Anne to hit back yet again with: ‘As @MarkLabbett has already said, if we were all faking, wouldn’t they get five better-looking people?’

Anne recently came under siege from Twitter users after they deemed her comments on The Wright Stuff as transphobic, but her intent was swiftly debated afterwards.
Catch The Chase weekdays, at 5pm, on ITV1.
