Chelsea contract talks with Thibaut Courtois come under threat as Real Madrid see deal collapse for Kepa Arrizabalaga

Chelsea's hopes of concluding contract talks with keeper Thibaut Courtois have come under threat from Real Madrid once again.

Real Madrid have seen a bid to buy Athletic Bilbao goalie Kepa Arrizabalaga for £17.7million collapse.

An agreement was in place for Kepa to join before the end of the current transfer window, but now the La Liga giants are on the hunt for a new keeper to arrive this summer instead.

Courtois told Standard Sport earlier this month that 'a deal with Chelsea was close'.

The Blues have offered around £200,000-a-week, but he has been on Real Madrid's wish-list for several years and they are likely to renew their interest.

Meanwhile, the club still has some work to do to convince Edin Dzeko to join from AS Roma.

The 31-year-old Bosnian striker is wanted to bolster Chelsea’s attacking options, and the club are trying to bring him in as part of a £44m double deal including his Roma team-mate Emerson Palmieri.

But while the Brazilian full-back is expected to fly in to London early this week to finalise his move, Dzeko wants to be convinced that he will feature regularly in Antonio Conte’s side.
