Chelsea’s draw with Atletico Madrid condemned them to second place in Group C, and the possibility of serious repercussions in the knockout stages of the Champions League.

Antonio Conte’s side are now left in Pot Two for Monday’s draw, where they will face one of the winners from the other groups.

They are joined by some illustrious company, too, with the likes of Real Madrid, Bayern Munich and Juventus also finishing second in their respective groups.

Standard Sport runs you though the permutations for Conte’s side…

Pots and seedings

As runners-up in Group C, Chelsea know they will be pitted against one of the group winners of Pot One.

But Chelsea’s draw is made all the more difficult by the successes of their compatriots.

Because no side can play another from the same country in the round of 16, Chelsea cannot face the winners of Groups A, F and H, where Manchester United, City and Tottenham have secured top spot, while AS Roma – who pipped the Blues in Group C – will also be avoided.

That leaves Conte’s side with some daunting prospects...

Chelsea’s Premier League counterparts made life even tougher for them in the knockout stages.

Due to Liverpool winning Group E, Chelsea can only face Barcelona, PSG or Besiktas in the last 16. That's a two-out-of-three chance that they will face Barcelona or PSG.
