The M&G garden, designed by Andy Sturgeon, has won Best Show Garden at the RHS Chelsea Flower Show, the event's top prize. The garden is inspired by Sturgeon’s “deep-rooted” childhood memories of woodland environments, which he has explained to The Telegraph are “fundamentally, why I became a gardener”.

According to the RHS,  it is inspired by nature’s power to regenerate, "this woodland landscape will be interspersed with stone platforms and huge burnt timber sculptures representing natural rock formations," it states.

Other Gold medal winners this year include Mark Gregory’s Welcome To Yorkshire Garden, who's design this year was inspired by the canals and waterways of Yorkshire and featured a fully-functioning lock (scroll down for the full list of medals awarded so far).

Known as the most glamorous event on the gardening calendar, the Chelsea Flower Show returned for its 106th year, boasting an impressive display of 11 show gardens and 17 smaller gardens.

The event, which is open to the public from 21 - 25 May, takes gardening to the next level, showcasing plants and sculptures to create a conversation around contemporary topics.

While the top prize, Best Show Garden, will be announced later on Tuesday, below are the best of the best.
