Cheltenham Town midfield prospects sign first professional contracts

Midfield prospects Brandon Liggett and Freddy Willcox have both signed their first professional contracts with Cheltenham Town.

Gloucester-born Liggett, 18, was the Robins youth team captain and also impressed during a loan spell in National League North with Gloucester City last term.

Willcox, also 18, made his first team debut on the final day of the 2022/23 campaign, going on from the bench in a 2-2 home draw with Charlton Athletic.

The boyhood Robins fan has since spent made one more League One appearance as well as spending time on loan with Evesham United, building his senior experience, with 30 appearances and two goals for the Southern League Division One South side.

Willcox also appeared twice for his parent club in the EFL Trophy group stage last season, while Liggett made one appearance in the competition against West Ham United Under-21s.

They will both now become part of new boss Michael Flynn's senior squad, who report back for pre-season fitness testing next Tuesday.

The 2024/25 fixtures will be released at 9am on Wednesday, with the EFL Cup first round draw taking place at 11.30am the following day.
