Cher has said her memoir keeps being delayed because her life has been so long.

The If I Could Turn Back Time singer is 77 and first announced she had begun writing her life story back in 2018, with the book originally due for publication in 2020.

Cher addressed the delay on Good Morning Britain, saying: "I've missed so many [deadlines]. The problem is I've lived too long! That's my problem. And I've done too many things. And cramming it in with my life experiences... it's very difficult."

The Believe singer tweeted back in December 2018: "Writing Life Story. Book Due Out First Part Of 2020. Bio Pic To Follow."

Earlier this year she admitted of writing the book: "We are kind of starting again. It just wasn’t working out, and we needed to adjust some of the things"

She added: “Well, we’re almost finished because [my publisher] goes, ‘Cher, how long are you going to work on this?’… we’re so close.”

GMB's Susanna Reid and Ed Balls also asked Cher about the secret to her youthful looks.

She said: "I remember when my friend Paulette and I were talking about when we're going to cut our hair and stop wearing jeans because it seemed in those days that's what women did and it's not happened yet. I will be 80 at some point, sooner than I wish and I will still be wearing my jeans and I will still be wearing long hair and I will still be doing all the same stuff I've always done."

Cher added: "The genes in my family are pretty amazing.

"I don’t know. I don’t know if not feeling old makes you younger, I’m not sure. And I keep up with the trends. I have lots of young friends. I have old friends too.’

"Honestly, I’m not trying to feel young, I’m not trying to be young, I am who I am. So whatever that means, I’m just getting along."
