Cherries' representation at the Euros comes to an end after Kerkez and Hungary exit

CHERRIES will no longer be represented at the Euros after Milos Kerkez’s Hungary were knocked out at the end of the group stage.

Despite defeating a Scotland side containing fellow Cherry Ryan Christie on Sunday, Kerkez and co. faced an agonising wait to see if results elsewhere would allow Hungary to advance into the knockout stages of the tournament.

However, a shock win for minnows Georgia against Euro 2016 winners Portugal saw the Hungarians finish as the fifth-best third-placed side, ending their tournament early.

Scotland finished below Hungary in Group A, whilst Kerkez’s fellow defender Illia Zabarnyi’s Ukraine finished fourth in Group E – despite being level on four points with all three of the other teams in the pool.

Cherries return to first team training on Saturday, July 6, with Andoni Iraola set to prepare his side for a third consecutive Premier League season.
